Start-up scholarship
With the support of the European Social Fund, the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania grants benefits - in the form of start-up scholarships - in connection with the foundation of innovative technology-oriented enterprises.
In accordance with the guideline for supporting business start-ups of university graduates by granting cost of living subsidies ("Start-up scholarship"), cost of living subsidies can be granted - in the form of non-repayable benefits - to university graduates who intend to implement a technical product or process innovation or want to start their own innovative technology-based service business. The level of the subsidy is based on the graduation of the founders:
- Graduates with at least one university degree
can receive EUR 1,000 per month and - Founders holding a doctorate degree
can receive EUR 1,200 per month.
With regard to children, in respect of which the founder pays child support, a child care benefit of EUR 100.00 per child and month can be paid. The benefit is limited to a maximum term of 18 months. Any other public monies that are received to finance the founder's cost of living are counted against this benefit.
The decision on the grant of benefits is made in accordance with a positive vote of a jury on the project concept, including business plan.
Project ideas and application forms must be submitted to GSA Gesellschaft für Struktur- und Arbeitsmarktentwicklung mbH (≈ Society for Structural and Labour Market Development), which accepts all submissions and subjects them to a preliminary screening. The approval authority is the Landesförderinstitut Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (LFI ≈ State Institute for Subsidy Issues).
