GSA is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Federal State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and generally only acts on behalf of the State. 

Within the scope of institutional promotion GSA carries out the following statutory tasks, among others:

• Participation in the content development of the state labour market policy with the objective of linking labour market policies and structural policies, particularly through the development and support of innovative projects,

• Support in creating new jobs through the advising of founders of new businesses,
• Participation in the implementation of the Initiative Fund of the Federal State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, particularly by the submission of reports for theappropriate Ministryin individual cases of promotion, as well as the accompanying consultancy with regard to measurements in safeguarding employment,
• Consultancy and process management with regard to the application of labour market instruments in company closures, partial company closures and insolvencies.

Furthermore, as the State's service company, GSA is also involved, among other things, in the preliminary checking of ESF applications, advice on further training and the implementation of regionalised labour market policy directives.
